This is one of the largest paintings I have done, and is one of my favorites. The personal reference photo for this scene was taken looking backwards (west) from the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad (Northern New Mexico/Southern Colorado border) as the train neared a stop at Osier Station. This was the valley of the Rio de Los Pinos, and the time was early October, so the aspens were in full blazing glory. The painting was purchased by some good friends, so I get to visit it often. This was so much fun to paint, I think I will soon do another one. The train ride is a MUST if you are ever near Chama, New Mexico.
